Corfu newbuild plans progress GREECE: A plan to develop a new marina in the north of Corfu is “progressing steadily” despite the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Tim Chadwick, CEO of Imerolia Marina Developments, is spearheading the project in partnership with the local government. “We have very good support locally on the island and very strong backing from the National Government, particularly from the Ministry of Development,” he tells Marina World. The marina will be built in two stages. Phase one will create a facility of 70 berths for vessels up to 50m (164ft) utilising existing concrete infrastructure. This will ultimately be incorporated into a second phase, which will comprise a 400-berth marina able to accommodate Suntex buys Prime Group marina USA: Suntex Marina Investors has purchased Prime Marina Miami in Coconut Grove, Florida. The property serves a strong and affluent boating market south of central Miami and, under Suntex ownership, reverts to its previous name of Bayshore Landing. The purchase of the property’s recently renewed 70-year lease from Prime Marina Group includes 111 slips able to accommodate vessels up to 130ft (40m). In addition to the fullservice marina, the purchase includes 30,000ft² (2,787m²) of retail space and 15,000ft² (1,400m²) of restaurant space that is 100% occupied. The fully secured and patrolled property offers pump-out and fuel services, 24/7 access, parking and valet service. www.marinaworld.com – March/April 2021 WORLD NEWS yachts of 80m (262ft) and above. The local municipality is contributing 160ha (400 acres) of land next to the marina, with building rights for shops, restaurants, offices, a hotel and a number of villas. “There is a great shortage of berths in the Ionian Sea for superyachts,” Chadwick says. “The main distinguishing factor in our project is that the marina and landside developments will be a best practice, green, conservation, sustainable, Blue Flag facility conforming to recent UN Mediterranean Directives for environmentally responsible marine facilities.” “Suntex is actively growing and seeking acquisitions that align with our core objectives to be the premier marina operator in the US,” said David Filler, head of Suntex Investments, Florida. “Biscayne Bay and the surrounding neighbourhoods like Coconut Grove represent one of the greatest boating communities in the world and we are pleased to add this property to our portfolio. We look forward to greatly enhancing the boating experience for everyone to enjoy.” As part of the company’s continuing commitment to making significant operational and financial investments in properties throughout South Florida, initial plans for the site include conversion to year-round fuel operations, an enhanced waterfront experience, expanded menu options and greatly improved customer service. 7 INNOVATIVE.
