Port Takola to open in May THAILAND: Port Takola Marina and Yard in Krabi, Phuket, will soft open in May providing much needed berths close to the international tourist destinations of Ao Nang and Phang Nga Bay. Set within a 450,000m² (110-acre) development within a private estate owned by Suriya na Nagara, Port Takola will be the focal point of a lowdensity, low-rise resort with residences, hotel and nature trails. Over time, it will expand to offer 260 berths, boast an architect-designed capitainerie, and host offices and shops for yachtingrelated businesses. The marina basin has been designed by independent consultant, Simon Arrol, and Marinetek has been selected to build the marina in phases. For phase one, it is supplying a 225m (738ft) long Heavy Duty pontoon that WORLD NEWS CGI of Port Takola Marina, which is well sheltered and surrounded by green landscape. measures 4m (13ft) wide. This will accommodate up to 50 vessels of 12 to 40m (39 to 131ft) in length in a stern-to mooring arrangement. The berths have water and single phase power up to 63amps. Boaters have access to diesel and petrol at a separate fuel dock, high quality showers and toilets, and a café. The associated boatyard area will offer services for minor boat repairs and maintenance, will have space for up to 50 yachts, and be equipped with a 38- tonne capacity boat lift. Suriya na Nagara’s eldest son, Matthew na Nagara, is overseeing the development and ensuring that, while Port Takola may be the most modern marina in Thailand, it will not become an urban marina. Marinetek has fully supported this vision and is especially aware of the considerable merits of the site. “I love the landscape and atmosphere here,” says Kristian Rame, director Asia for Marinetek Group. “Port Takola is a perfectly sheltered marina with lots of green space around and we are very proud to have been chosen to build it.” The Port Takola contract is the second Marinetek has secured in Thailand within a short space of time. Last year, the company completed a superyacht extension at Phuket Yacht Haven. RAK contracts ART for Lagoon Marina UAE: RAK Properties PJSC, the biggest property developer in Ras Al Khaimah, has signed an agreement with marina management company ART Marine.
