DOCKSIDE PRODUCTS Marina Punat in Croatia has expanded and refurbished over the past ten years and has Plus pedestals for its 1,400 berths. Cooperation and partnership Italian dockside equipment specialist Plus Marine has further reinforced its presence on the market in Puglia, Italy, by delivering over 70 Smart K pedestals for the newly completed Porto Turistico di Otranto. The 417-berth facility, completed by Urbaning Srl as a sub-contractor to Rossi Renzo Costruzioni, was the result of a long battle between the Municipality of Otranto and local government regarding approvals and permissions. It has created over 100 new job opportunities. Plus Marine has previously installed pedestals at a range of facilities in the Puglia region including 700-berth Marina di Manfredonia, 400-berth Marina di Polignano and 600-berth Marina di Brindisi. The company has also completed several recent contracts in Turkey, and in Croatia it continued a 10 year Over 70 Smart K pedestals have been installed at Porto Turistico di Otranto. strong cooperation with Marina Punat in January by delivering 50 pedestals for its new shipyard area and ‘Brodica’ project. The partnership started in 2007 when Marina Punat first decided to upgrade its 1,250 berths. In the first refit, over 220 pedestals were supplied and follow up orders were placed virtually every year as refurbishment and expansion plans progressed. The marina now has 1,400 berths and welcomes over 3,000 transient vessels in the summer months. “Enjoying almost ten years of cooperation with one of the most important marinas in Croatia is what we call a big success here at Plus Marine,” says sales manager Franco Ceroici. Projects in Turkey also owe much to previous success. Plus Marine won a contract to supply pedestals for a new marina project in Güllük as a direct result of its 60-pedestal delivery to Port Iasos in Kiyilislacik. Both projects are being undertaken by Egesu Marina, an investment firm set up by three brothers who are all keen yachtsmen. They have been actively involved in tour operations in the UK and property development in Turkey. Smart pedestals with integrated remote metering systems were ordered for both marinas and delivery for Güllük Marina is scheduled for the end of this month (March) when Plus will also ship out a total of 550 S700L pedestals for the new Atakoy Megayacht Marina Project and Atakoy Marina refurbishment in Istanbul. The Atakoy pedestals are of stainless steel, with Plus Marine’s integrated A new Turkish contract for a project in Güllük was won as a result of this installation in Port Iasos, completed in 2013. Epower metering system with Smart remote metering software and Smart View software. These give the operator total control of the pedestals from the marina office where an automatic transponder recharging machine with integrated credit card reader will be installed close to each of the front offices. Atakoy Marina also asked for an automatic heating system at each pedestal to avoid freezing water pipes during the winter. This system will be automatically activated when temperatures drop below 5°C (41°F). Contact Plus Marine in Italy on email: info@plusmarine.com www.marinaworld.com - March/April 2016 51
