PRODUCTS & SERVICES New lift in all sizes and shapes WPC decking revives ‘first’ marina After over 30 years of service life, the marina system at Marina Uno on the north-east Italian coast in Lignano Sabbiadoro was subjected to a thorough inspection by Walcon Italy. All, aside from the ageing appearance of the timber decking, was deemed to be in very good condition. Golden Boat Lifts has introduced a custom-built product called Golden Deck Lift that offers dual benefits; secure 360°access to a floating vessel and above-water boat storage. Boaters simply follow the guide posts into the slip and press a button to raise the lift. The lift then secures the boat or PWC between custom-fitted bunks. Water instantly drains through the grated material. In addition to making boarding and disembarkation easier and safer, the Deck Lift improves the overall aesthetics of the waterfront as it blends seamlessly with the surroundings. Stairs can easily be added for boats with taller gunwales. Available in various colours, the product features rot and insect resistant polymer decking that will not shrink or swell and requires no chemical treatment. The entire surface has a knurled, slip-resistant finish and the grating allows sunlight to penetrate down to aquatic vegetation. All units are tailor-made to meet a wide range of lift capacities and can be manufactured in an almost unlimited selection of sizes and shapes. Every lift utilises Golden Boat Lifts’ ultra reliable Sea-Drive gearbox. The company says that over 18,000 Sea-Drives have been sold to date and none have failed. Contact Golden Boat Lifts in FL, USA on email: First built in 1960, Marina Uno (‘First Marina’) was the first tourist harbour on the Italian Adriatic. It was radically transformed in 1982 into a proper marina with 435 berths, a 4 star hotel, apartments, shops and fine fish restaurants. The resort founder, Renzo Ardito, selected Walcon’s Waliflote pontoon system and commissioned architect Ferdinando Anichini to design an exclusive dockside pedestal design. The resulting Lucciola module, manufactured in colourful glass fibre, became an award-winner. Having set the pace during the 1980s as an example of how best to merge technology with good aesthetics, from 1990 onwards Marina Uno also earned environmental acclaim with a Blue Flag award every year. In its recent refurbishment, Ardito and his son opted to replace the timber pontoon decking with Novowood Marine; a Wood Polymer Composite (WPC) that resembles natural timber. The chemical formula for Novowood has been specially designed for use in marinas by professionals who have over 30 years of experience in the maritime sector. Since 2008, the product has been used in various parts of the world decking pontoons for over 5,000 berths. Marina Uno required 1,000m² (10,764ft²) of Novowood to give the Waliflote pontoons a new lease of life. Contact Novowood Marine in Croatia on email: - March/April 2016 61
