WATERFRONT DEVELOPMENTS North Harbour Marina Precinct in Moreton Bay, south-east Queensland will be developed to include a 400-berth marina. North Harbour marina to take centre stage in Queensland waterfront plans By 2030, the North Harbour Marina Precinct in Moreton Bay near Brisbane will be transformed into a world-class waterfront destination, boasting a 400-berth marina in Australia’s fast-growing region of south-east Queensland. Moreton Bay is a diverse paradise protected by soaring sand dunes, renowned wetlands and waters teeming with life. It is the perfect vantage point to catch a glimpse of humpback whales as they make their way along the east coast between June and November. The nearby waterways are home to dugongs, turtles, dolphins and over 350 species of birds. It is a haven for wildlife lovers, sailors, fishermen, kayakers and swimmers alike. It’s also a stunning backdrop for the experienced Australian developer Port Binnli Group to build a waterfront precinct with 500 dry storage docks, around 562 private pontoons, fuel facilities, yacht and jet ski hire, fishing and diving charters, and much more to complement its core marina. The larger precinct will transform 570ha (1,410 acres) of prime waterfront land into a retail and entertainment village, a 319ha (788- acre) open space recreation area and a residential community. An array of cafés and restaurants overlooking the marina will bring it to life, along with supermarkets, taverns and speciality stores, a waterfront boardwalk and vibrant public spaces, scenic river activities and more. The marina village will offer 600 apartments and 600 detached homes, while a waterfront estate will house an additional 800 dwellings. Overall, the project is expected to provide a A.74 billion boost to the economy and an estimated 7,735 new jobs for Queenslanders. The development, less than an hour’s drive from Queensland’s capital city, Brisbane, will also connect to the North Harbour Business Park, which is likely to feature additional marinerelated businesses and deliver a marine industry cluster to the north of the city. Experienced hands at work North Harbour Marina was first envisioned almost 20 years ago and has been one of south-east Queensland’s most rigorously planned and assessed projects.
