PRODUCTS & SERVICES New publication Buoy quartet Following on from the design of Balizamar navigation buoys, Almarin has launched a new range of mooring buoys. These are used for mooring vessels as well as for containment booms and floating cages used in aquaculture. The buoys have a galvanised steel structure with a safe working load of 12,000kg (26,455lb) and a foam filled rotomoulded polyethylene hull. Four versions are available with standard diameters of 1250mm (49.2in) and 1600mm (62.9in) and volumes between 700 and 2500 litres (154 and 550 gallons). Each model is available in four mooring designs. A way around this is to focus effort in trying to reduce the associated sedimentation rate by carefully designed schemes appropriate for each particular case. In doing so, special attention should be paid to the conditions of each problem, such as tidal or non-tidal environment, coastal or riverine installations etc. The new RecCom report fully explores anti-sedimentation schemes, focusing on aspects that include: the impact of site considerations for a new marina, e.g. the importance of proper marina orientation and layout; the importance of streamlining protection structures; positioning of marina entrance; and methods of safeguarding the free passage of sedimentation. www.marinaworld.com - November/December 2015 49
